MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Authorities say a historic landmark near
the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery has been vandalized.

A historical marker commemorating the location of former Confederate offices is now covered with duct tape and an unidentified black substance.

The marker is located in Montgomery's historic downtown district which surrounds the state capitol. The memorial features several flags that were used during the time of the confederacy, including a picture and historical description of the Confederate battle flag.

Mayor Todd Strange told the Montgomery Advertiser that the vandalism is an example of defacing public property, which he says
recognizes the historical significance of the area. The newspapers
reports the marker is on the block where Jefferson Davis was
presented publicly as the president-elect of the Confederacy and
where he made his inaugural address as president.

Heritage is everything, once the perps are arrested, charge with a hate crime. A hate crime would be charged against someone burning a cross, defacing a synague, black church, or gay activist office, etc... Oh that's right, no persecution if it is against a white man or his/her heritage.... The scales of Justice is so fair and balanced isn't it?

Well don't worry about it. With tornado damage all over the place, don't you have better fish to fry than to worry about a land mark that could very well get blown away by a tornado also. For heaven sakes !
