Money Dispute Leaves 1 Person Dead in Dale County

UPDATE- 3:25 p.m.

Around 4 o'clock Saturday morning deputies responded to a burglary in the 300 block of County Road 56.

Authorities say the perpetrator, 26 year old Curtis Lee Patrick broke into the homeowner’s house, 25 year old Michael Crawford.

The break-in turned into a fight between the two.

Authorities say Crawford grabbed his gun and shot Patrick in the upper chest area.

"The victim also went into details to say that he retrieved his weapon, fired one shot, which ended up striking the perpetrator, assuming taking his life," said Captain Marlos Walker with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency personal were unable to revive Patrick.

Dale County Coroner, Woody Hilbolt pronounced Patrick dead at 6:30 a.m.

The Dale County Sheriff's Office and coroner's office continue to investigate the case.

An autopsy is scheduled by the Department of Forensic Science.
