Midland City Domestic Dispute Turns To Standoff

Keith Rinehardt has been held in Dale County jail on no bond since Saturday morning, when deputies said a fight with his wife turned violent.

He is facing charges for domestic violence and shooting at an occupied car. He is being held in jail on no bond.

He allegedly barricaded himself in his home after a volatile fight with his wife Saturday morning. She was able to escape unharmed and call 911. Negotiators were able to get him to surrender less than two hours later.

Headland Police Chief Mark Jones said, “Officer Rinehardt he was a good officer. He was a good guy, laid back. Didn’t have any signs and Saturday morning when the call came in I was totally shocked. We picked up his equipment and I’ll go through proper procedure with our mayor and council.”

Rinehardt has only been with the Headland Police department since February 1st of this year. He is expected to go before a judge tomorrow.
