A Dothan man charged with capital murder is offered a plea deal that lessened his charge today.
27-year-old, Kevin McCloud, was originally charged with capital murder for the fatal shooting of Pete Reaves.
McCloud accepted the plea deal and was sentenced to 99 years in prison.
In June of 2007, Reaves was shot to death and McCloud was also injured. Investigators say the crime was drug related.
“I talked with the family, and they decided. As a DA I went along with their wishes, but let me send a message real clear, real loud, to those other people facing capital murder charges in Henry and Houston County. This is not the norm,” says District Attorney, Doug Valeska.
Two other suspects were also arrested in the case. One was found not guilty and the other is still awaiting trial. Another part of McCloud's plea bargain, is to testify against the shooter.
