What started as an area search has now expanded to three states.
Florida, Alabama, and now Georgia Law Enforcement Agents are increasing their efforts to find a person of interest in the Cottondale double murder case.
News 4's Demetria McClenton spoke with both Henry and Jackson County Sheriffs.
Federal, state, and local law enforcement agents are searching for Wade Andrew Williams, who was reportedly spotted in the Wiregrass by multiple residents Friday.
After the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department received a tip that Williams may have hitchhiked to Alabama, investigators met at the Henry County Courthouse to strategize.
“We do not know for sure if it’s him, but he matches the description of the victims’ son,” said Jackson County Sheriff Lou Roberts.
Around 11:00 Friday morning, investigators received a tip that Wade Andrew Williams was seen on US Highway 10-East just outside of Abbeville.
“We want to make the public aware that this could possibly be the individual we're seeking in this homicide,” said Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox.
Sheriff Roberts adds, “We have info that leads us to believe a motorist may have given a ride to an individual that matches the description of the person we want to talk to. “
On Thursday, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department started an investigation in the Northwest Florida City of Carryville.
Officers found a burned vehicle that belonged to Williams' parents, Bruce and Sharon Williams, who were killed in their Cottondale home.
“If the person is responsible for taking the life of his mother and father then he wouldn't hesitate to hurt someone in the public that he's not familiar with,” said Sheriff Roberts.
“Let us confront him because he's armed and dangerous,” said Sheriff Maddox.
Officers believe Williams is travelling East on US Highway 10 to Georgia.
Investigators have contacted Georgia officers and sent news releases to media outlets to alert them of Williams.
Police say he could be traveling with a large duffle bag or camping equipment.
Air support and K-9 tracking teams will continue their efforts to locate him.
