FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A northeast Florida man has been
convicted of beating his parents to death with a baseball bat.
A Nassau County jury found 38-year-old Gregory David Larkin guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder and grand theft auto. Jurors later this month will recommend whether he should receive the death penalty.
A judge will make a final decision. Authorities say Larkin attacked his mother, 73-year-old Myra A. Larkin, while she was watching a movie in April 2009. He then went to the garage, where he attacked his father, 75-year-old Richard C.Larkin Jr.
The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/wltGCp) reports that the bodies were found in their home eight days later. The son, who had been living with the elderly couple, was eventually arrested after police found the couple's blood on their son's clothes.
