A young adult is put behind bars because police say he lied about being robbed.
Ozark, AL - Javari March, 18, is charged with obstructing governmental operations.
Ozark police say last night at about 7:30 March called saying he had been robbed near the Oakview Manor Assisted Living Facility.
Investigators say the Wiregrass Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force determined March fabricated the situation.
“This is a waste of taxpayers’ money, and in a case such as this it took police officers and investigators to determine this did not in fact occur. They could be working on more important things that they need to be doing,” says Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey.
March was booked into the Dale County Jail. He could serve up to a year if convicted.
