This evening, one man was driving about 30 miles per hour eastbound on Highway 90 in Marianna when his pick up truck struck a scooter similar to a hover- round.
The scooter driver was trying to cross the road.
Despite a small reflector on the scooter, the scooter driver was wearing dark clothing and truck driver did not see him.
The scooter driver was flown by life flight to Tallahassee.
Sargent J.D. Johnson with the Florida Highway Patrol says the truck driver was driving the speed limit, was not unpaired, and he nor his passenger were injured.
Johnson said, "In the middle of 90 out here, outside a cross walk the gentleman driving the pickup truck was not expecting anybody to be in the road. Even though this area of 90 is street lit, it's not lit bright. And the gentleman hit him and he drug him for about 25-30 feet."
The scooter driver did suffer a broken leg and hip but his injuries are not expected to be life threatening.
