On September 13, 2012 the Dothan Police Department responded to a citizens’ report of white male (later identified as David Bagwell) in the parking lot of the Shell Station (3206 Montgomery Highway) asking customers for illegal narcotics. Upon arrival the witness stated the man left but was able to give a description of the vehicle and direction of travel which officers used to locate the vehicle a short time later in the parking lot of Wal-Mart (north side location).
Officers approaching the area saw the suspect walk to the vehicle and attempt to leave at which time the vehicle was stopped. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed a five year old child in the front seat who had been left inside the vehicle while the suspect went into the business. During the investigation police located several items in reach of the child which posed a serious danger to him including syringes, a spoon that contained a residual amount of a substance suspected to be heroin, and numerous pill bottles which contained methadone, Suboxone, Clonazepam, Xanax, Oxazepam and Clonazepam.
• David Bagwell, white male, 30 years of age, of Napier Field Road was arrested and charged with three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Chemical Endangerment of a Child with bonds totaling $60,000.
