Knife Fight Breaks Out at Marianna High School

The Jackson County Sheriff Department says on Friday, a knife fight broke out between teenagers at Marianna High School.

It happened at the beginning of 5th period.

Investigators say a 17-year old boy and a 16-year old boy got in a fight at the beginning of 5th period.

Deputies say the 16-year old pulled a knife and slashed the 17-year old on the back.

The knife was seized and the 16-year old was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

He was released into the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice and place in detention.

The victim and witnesses say the fight started because the older boy had a "bad attitude" toward the 16-year old.
