Jury to Consider Death Penalty in Mobile Killing

A Mobile County jury will now consider whether Michael Lee should die by lethal injection or spend his life in prison without parole.

The jury found the 21-year-old Lee guilty of capital murder on Saturday.

He was accused of fatally shooting 23-year-old Kyser Miree during a robbery at his midtown home in 2010.

According to prosecutors, Lee shot Miree at his home after barging inside with three accomplices.

According to testimony, Miree fell to the ground and had three guns pointed at him as he begged for his life.

Miree, a Birmingham native, was a Vanderbilt University graduate and an engineer at the Chevron Corp. refinery in Pascagoula.

Circuit Judge John Lockett instructed the jury to return to the courtroom Monday at 9 a.m.
