Jackson County Sheriff's Office Press Release

On January 4, 2011 the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 4797 Pelt Street, in reference to a burglary at the Maintenance Department for Jackson County. During the investigation, it was learned that numerous rolls of electrical wire and a new Lincoln Mig welder were stolen from the building.

Further investigation revealed the suspects used a golf cart to enter the property and remove the items. Investigators were able to locate a suspect and in fact found some of the property, several rolls of the electrical wire. Some of the wire had already been burned, removing the insulation and only leaving the wire. The suspect identified as John Eric Pumphrey was subsequently arrested and is being charged with Burglary and Grand Theft. Another suspect was identified as Jonathan Lewis Tipton and he was also charged with Burglary and Grand Theft.

Investigators were able to locate the golf cart used in the incident and it has been seized at this time.
