The Holmes County Sheriff's office is reaching out into the community to inform residents about ongoing scams.
Many residents have been calling in to the sheriff's office complaining about various phone scams over the last few months. To fight back against scammers, officials decided to get out and notify citizens face to face with town hall meetings. The sheriff's office will also be talking about current events and other crime trends. There will be a question and answer session as well.
"We just want to try to be informative, possibly if we help one person out from getting defrauded or losing money we've done something and that's what we're out here to do," said Captain John Tate from the Holmes County Sheriff's Office.
The next scheduled community meeting will be at 6 p.m. on August 5th at Esto City Hall.
