ATLANTA (AP) - An Atlanta truck driver described by authorities as a serial rapist who lured women into his semitrailer and attacked them during a four-year crime spree has been sentenced to 12 life prison terms without parole plus 20 years.
A Georgia judge on Thursday sentenced 33-year-old Marvin Martin
to the prison terms.
Martin was convicted by a jury of rape, aggravated sodomy, aggravated assault with intent to rape and kidnapping in connection
with the rapes of seven women.
Authorities said Martin searched for women along an industrial corridor in the Atlanta area and either coaxed or forced them into his vehicle - which was most often a white 18-wheeler - between 2005 and 2009.
