Furniture Warehouse is Burglarized for the Second Time

Daleville, AL-A local furniture warehouse has been burglarized for the second time, and now police need your help identifying the suspect.

Owners of Chandler Furniture in Daleville returned to work Monday to find nearly $70,000 worth of merchandise and equipment stolen. With surveillance video and your help, Daleville police hope to catch the suspect soon.

“The truck that was stolen was sitting here in the open bay,” says Daleville police Sargeant Stacy Austin.

Saturday night, a delivery truck full of furniture was stolen from Chandler Furniture in Daleville. 200 gallons of diesel fuel were also siphoned from the other trucks in the lot. It adds up to about $70,000 in losses for the business.

This isn’t the first time it’s has been burglarized. Just last year, two empty trucks were stolen and later recovered in Georgia.

Sergeant Austin says, “Where the warehouse is located at, a lot of people don’t even know it’s here. It’s kind of behind the wood line. It’s easy to get back here and no one see you.”

Police say the motion activated cameras captured the suspect just after midnight. Then about three hours later it shows him leaving the driveway with the delivery truck.

Sergeant Austin has looked over the surveillance video and has created a description of the suspect.

“Approximately 6 ft – 6’ 2” , middle aged white male, heavy-set maybe 260 – 280 and walks with a slight limp and appears to have on blue jeans and possibly a goatee that night.”

In addition to the suspect’s description, the stolen truck is a 2008 International Model White Box Truck.

“It’s been entered into NCIC, which is a tool law enforcement uses. If the vehicle is spotted the tag’s run, the VIM number is run, and we would get a hit on it here in Daleville,” says Sargeant Austin.

The tag number is AL 26X25100 and the U.S. DOT number is 599557.

Police do not think the two incidents are connected.

If you recognize the suspect or spot the truck matching this description you are asked to call your local law enforcement.
