A Crestview man wanted by the Crestview Police Department for attempted murder was taken into custody March 31st by members of the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force from the Okaloosa and Walton County Sheriff’s Office along with the State Attorney’s Office.
On 02/10/2011, James Daniel WATFORD and another suspect were involved in a shooting incident in north Okaloosa County. In that case, WATFORD and another suspect were chasing the victim, James Wesley Williams, down the roadway in vehicles
and firing shots at him.
While the incident was in progress, they passed an Okaloosa County Patrol Deputy, who heard the gunshots. WATFORD and the other suspect were both arrested and the victim was not injured.
WATFORD has since been released from jail on bond On 03/20/2011 WATFORD was driving a motorcycle in the city of Crestview.
WATFORD spotted the victim riding a bicycle and accelerated at a high rate of speed directly toward the victim, running him over in an attempt to severely injure or kill the victim.
The victim sustained minor injuries. WATFORD then fled the scene and has been avoiding apprehension.
Crestview Police Department got a warrant signed on WATFORD, charging him with Attempted Murder, Tampering With a Witness, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident With Injuries.
On 03/31/2011 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Fugitive Task Force members of the US Marshals Service Florida Region Fugitive Task Force Officers with the Okaloosa and Walton County Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office approached WATFORD’s residence, 3517 Auburn Road in the unincorporated Crestview area of
northern Okaloosa County, Florida.
Upon knocking on the front door several times, WATFORD exited a door on the side of the residence. WATFORD was immediately met by TFO’s and taken into custody without incident.
WATFORD was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview where he remains under no bond.
