The Okaloosa County Multi Agency Drug Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant at 201 Newcastle Dr. in Fort Walton Beach on Tuesday, March 29th. Patrol deputies and later Task Force investigators initially responded at the request of the fire department.
The fire department was called to 201 Newcastle in reference to a kitchen fire. As firefighters were opening windows to ventilate the smoke, they came across an indoor marijuana grow operation and notified law enforcement authorities.
Sheriff’s Investigators obtained a search warrant and seized 11 marijuana plants ranging from 2 ½ inches to 24 inches, labeled with names such as “Smerfberry, tundra, diavolo, Kandy Kush, Armageddon” and others. Processed marijuana for use was also located in the residence.
The occupant and resident of the home, Charles Dawsey Jr., DOB 12/12/55, was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana over 20 grams.
