An Okaloosa County road crew was threatened by a Fort Walton Beach homeowner on July 22 when they were trimming trees in front of his home.

According to a press release, an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy was called to Marlowe Drive around 3:20 p.m. for an armed disturbance in progress.

Michael Howard Flora, 59, allegedly yelled at the crew to get off his property, threatening to get his shotgun.

Deputies say, Flora went inside, grabbed a shotgun and returned to the front yard. He then allegedly pumped the weapon once to put a round in the chamber, and put the weapon on his shoulder, pointed in the air and walked towards the crew before moving into bushes in the side yard.

Flora was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill.
