Former Troy officer Charged in Sex Crimes

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- A recently retired Troy police officer has been arrested for allegedly committing multiple sex crimes against a child victim.

Attorney General Luther Strange says 61-year-old Willie Toney was arrested Wednesday by agents of the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Pike County Sheriff's Office.

Toney is being held at the Pike County Jail. Authorities said Toney was charged with one count of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy, and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse -- all of which were allegedly committed against a child victim aged less than 12 years old.

If convicted, Toney faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
