Former Peanut Corp. of America Exec. Pleads Guilty in 2008 Salmonella Outbreak

BLAKELY, GA - A former executive at Peanut Corporatoin of America in Blakely, Ga., has pleaded guilty to multiple felony counts stemming from a 2008 deadly Salmonella outbreak traced back to the plant.

Samuel Lightsey reached a plea agreement with the federal government Wednesday. The deal could keep his prison term to no more than six years.

Lightsey and three other former executives of the company pleaded not guilty in February 2013 They faced 76-felony counts.

The Salmonella outbreak is blamed in nine deaths.

A trial in the case is set to start in July.
