The Enterprise Police Department arrested JOSE CHAVEZ (28) Friday morning for Terrorist Threats, Burglary 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest. On December 31, 2010 the Enterprise Police Department received two 911 calls regarding a possible bomb located at a residence on Coffee County Road 702. One of the callers stated that her grandson and two of his friends were at her residence. She observed them sitting outside at a work bench and when she asked what they were doing her grandson told her nothing. JOSE CHAVEZ told her they were building a bomb and that he had planted one under her house and it was going to explode. She went back inside her house and locked the door. CHAVEZ kicked the door open and entered her house. She ran to her bedroom and locked the door, CHAVEZ then kicked the bedroom door in. He told her again that her house was going to explode and dragged her outside. CHAVAZ then ran across the street and told two construction workers that he had planted a bomb and they needed to clear the area. One of the workers then called 911. When police arrived CHAVEZ ran from them and fought with the officers when they attempted to restrain him. He told police he had made multiple bombs and had placed them around and under the residence. CHAVEZ and the other two are in the military and are EOD students. Due to the nature of the threat and the fact that all three had knowledge of bombs, the Dothan Police Department’s Bomb Squad responded. Houston County also responded to assist Dothan’s Bomb Squad. After a complete search of the residence and surrounding property, no device was found. The other two soldiers had not made any threats regarding a bomb and had no knowledge of CHAVEZ making or claiming to have made a bomb. They initially ran from the scene but were located within a few hours. The victim did not wish to press charges against the other two. CHAVEZ is currently being held in the Coffee County Jail.
