arrest

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) - A Fort Pierce couple is accused of forcing a child to bathe, use the bathroom and spend nearly all of her time in the back yard.

St. Lucie County deputies charged 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman with felony child abuse over the weekend.

Authorities say the couple had three children living with them.

Two appeared to be well-cared for, but a third was dirty and poorly
clothed.

None of the children's ages were reported. All three were taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families.

It's not clear whether the couple has an attorney.

I wonder if this is another foster family caring for an adopted child. Well, it may be "in the best interest of the child."

I read a story one time about something very much like this, one of the children was mentally handicapped and the woman was embarrassed so she made him live in the basement and be quite. The story came out when the other two children got old enough to talk to their freinds about their brother that lived in the basement and one mother of one of their freinds called the law.
