DOTHAN, AL - On October 26, 2012 the Dothan Police Department received information from the Gainesville Police Department in Gainesville, Florida concerning a murder in their jurisdiction that had occurred at an ATM in the early morning hours of October 26, 2012. Dothan patrol officers and investigators began a search for the suspect who was believed to be in the Dothan area. On October 27th the suspect was located and taken into custody in Lovetown, Alabama by the Dothan Police Department. Gainesville Police Detectives responded to Dothan and interviewed the suspect. Dothan Police, Houston County Sheriff’s Deputies and Gainesville Police Officers executed two search warrants relating to this case. Baxter is currently being held in the Dothan City jail under no bond until his extradition to Florida.
•Clifton Rae Baxter, white male, 33 years of age, of Hilltop Rd., Ashford Alabama, was arrested and charged with Murder First Degree out of Gainesville, Florida. All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
