Escaped Graceville Inmate Captured

Jeremy Foxworth, who escaped earlier this week from the Graceville work camp, was captured Thursday evening.

The Florida Department of Corrections reported that Foxworth was caught by DOC canine units just before 5 p.m. in a wooded area north of Graceville. Authorities said he gave up without incident.

Foxworth walked away from an outside work detail on Tuesday. He was due to be released in 2013 but now will face escape charges and additional time in prison.

The DOC came under criticism from Graceville residents who said Foxworth's extensive record should have kept him behind bars and not working under minimum supervision.

Foxworth was serving more than eight years for crimes ranging from battery with a deadly weapon to burglary and grand theft.

I live in the Holmes Creek area. Thanks to all the search crews and especially the canine units who combed the woods around our house and generally, have made their presence known for the last few days. We acknowledge and appreciate the hard work put forth to keep our community safe!
