Enterprise Police Arrest Resident Driving Stolen Car

Enterprise Police arrested a resident after he attempted to elude police in a stolen vehicle.

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a police officer attempted to stop Merlin Townsed, 33, of Enterprise for a traffic violation.

The vehicle Townsed was driving was reported stolen to law enforcement officials in Ardmore County, TN. Townsed allegedly attempted to elude officers and chase ensued. After a lengthy pursuit, Officers were able to get the vehicle stopped and the driver was taken into custody.

Townsend was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property in the first, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, eluding officers, reckless driving, two distributions of controlled substance warrants, and a failure to appear warrant.

This case is currently under investigation by the EPD Criminal Investigations Division, which may lead to additional charges.
