ATLANTA (AP) - Police say they have charged a bus driver with a traffic violation in connection with an accident which left a woman's leg severed.
Police say the driver of the Cobb County Transit bus, Jean Lewis, has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Police said Friday that 54-year-old Ruby Nell Rhodes' right leg had to be amputated above the knee, and that she also suffered a broken ankle.
Authorities say she was struck by the bus while she crossed the street near Hamilton E. Holmes and Martin Luther King Jr. drives during rush hour on Jan. 19.
