Dothan Woman Arrested for Attempted Car Theft

The Dothan Police Department asked for the help of our local community in locating a woman wanted for first degree theft of property on August 29, 2012. Investigators say a warrant was signed against Amanda Grimsley after a recent investigation revealed actions were taken by the suspect to steal a vehicle from a local car dealership. Police say Grimsely posed as a potential buyer at the business writing a check in the amount of $2,500 for a down payment towards a Pontiac. Upon depositing the check, the business was contacted by the bank and informed the check was written on an account that had been closed for nearly a year. The vehicle was later located and recovered and police say Grimsley was taken into custody early this morning. Investigators say Grimsley may face at least one additional count of theft for a separate but similar case.

•Amanda Grimsley, black female, 32 years of age, of Florida Avenue was arrested for First Degree Theft of Property with additional charges pending and a $150,000 bond.
