Dothan Police arrested and charged a resident with possession of burglary tools on Wednesday, July 3.
Investigators say the department received information that Jason Matkin, 35, of Stadium Street, was going to burglarize an undisclosed residence during the late evening/early morning hours of July 3 and 4while the owner was out of town.
A description of the subject and his vehicle were given to patrol officers and at approximately 11 p.m., an alert officer observed the vehicle turning on to Burbank Street.
A traffic stop was performed and the driver was identified as Matkin. Located in Matkin’s vehicle were tools commonly used for burglarizing homes and businesses.
Matkin was detained and transported to the Dothan Police Department where he confessed to having knowledge that the targeted victim would be out of town and there would be various weapons and money at the location.
Matkin’s bond has been set at $5,000.
