The Dothan Police Department has made a three count felony arrest following an ongoing investigation of theft which involved multiple cellular telephone towers. Police began investigating a series of thefts in early September in which the suspect would make entry into the secure area that contained the victimized towers in order to strip copper wiring from the towers. These criminal acts resulted in extensive damage and theft from the towers.
Police say they have now identified and arrested Hugo Geerts in connection with cases involving an AT&T tower located in the 3000 block of South Park Avenue, a Verizon tower located in the 100 block of Austin Court and a T-Mobile tower located in the 200 block of Zenith Road. Investigators say the case will remain open and further charges may be pending.
•Hugo Geerts, white male, 37 years of age, of South Edgewood Drive was arrested and charged with two counts of First Degree Theft and Third Degree Burglary with bonds totaling $245,000.
