Cobb Police Charge Man in Fatal Hit and Run

AUSTELL, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County police arrested a man they believe hit and killed a cyclist and then left the scene.

Authorities tell The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that 43-year-old Ernest Terrell Maxwell of Austell was hit from behind around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police interviewed witnesses and developed a description of the vehicle.

Officer Joe Hernandez says a man drove to a Cobb police precinct around 5 p.m. to report damage to his vehicle.

Hernandez says 37-year-old Brian A. Rolle of Powder Springs said he'd hit something.

Hernandez says the damage was consistent with the hit and run.

Rolle was charged with first degree vehicular homicide, hit and run and expired tag.

He was being held without bail and it wasn't immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.

Perhaps this man was driving down the road and he was sleepy and he hit something.HE may have thought it was a pot hole or a deer.If he didn't see anything and his vehicle was not ramshackled he probably went on home and went to bed.He probably saw the damage later and thought he'd report it to the law as required so your insurance will fix the damage. Really doesn't sound like a intentional hit and run to me.
