Child Found in Trunk with Pot During Henry Co. Traffic Stop

ABBEVILLE, AL - A Henry County Sheriff's deputy found more than he bargained for on a weekend traffic stop.

Investigators say they found a 5-year-old boy asleep on a bag of marijuana in the trunk.

According to the report, a Henry County Deputy pulled the car over for a minor traffic violation on Highway 431 on Saturday. He conducted a search of the car after smelling marijuana.

The child's father, 31-year-old Anthony Smith, along with the car's driver, 30-year-old Mariea Smith and 23-year-old Jerome Jackson were all arrested on possession charges.

Investigators say more charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
