On May 12, 2011 the Dothan Police Department made a felony arrest after a felon had a change of heart about his crime. Investigators say James Scott was traveling in the 3100 block of Ross Clark Circle in a vehicle he had stolen in Marianna. Apparently, the act was weighing on his conscience so when he saw a patrol ahead of him in traffic he exited the vehicle, walked to the patrol car and told the Dothan Policeman he had stolen the vehicle in Florida and wanted to turn himself in.

James McClary Scott IV, black male, 22 years of age, of Springfield, Ma. was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property with a $30,000 bond.
