The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says murder rates for children, teens and young adults hit a 30-year-low in 2010.

The C.D.C. says homicide rates for 10 to 24-year-olds have been falling since 2000.

C.D.C’s injury prevention center says homicide still consistently ranks in the top three causes of death for young people.

In 2010, 4,828 children and young adults aged 10 to 24 were murdered in the united states.

The C.D.C. says most of the killings involved firearms.
