COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) -- Bond has been set at $10,000 for an Arkansas man accused of calling in a bomb threat to the Carmike Cinemas' headquarters in downtown Columbus, Ga.
Keith Bowers, who was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, made his first federal court appearance Wednesday in Columbus.
Authorities have said 59-year-old Bowers is accused of calling the company's headquarters from Texas in August 2012 and threatening to detonate an explosive device during a movie at one of its theaters.
Bowers is charged with transmitting threats in interstate commerce. Officials say he faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
The Ledger-Enquirer of Columbus reports police have said Bowers may be a disgruntled employee and he referenced low pay for employees during the phone call.
