Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen announced this afternoon the arrest of a Georgia man on Panama City Beach for the theft of a truck in Georgia.
Investigators have now connected the suspect to the burglary of six townhouses and the dismantling of their air conditioning units for
Patrol deputies responded to 5622 Thomas Drive, Panama City Beach, this afternoon in response to a 911 call reporting a burglary in progress. Deputies responded and found Jason Lee Grizzard,
DOB 2/17/79, still present in the townhome.
Deputies determined the truck that Grizzard was driving had been reported stolen in Mitchell County, Georgia.
The truck was owned by Grizzard’s father.
Criminal Investigations was called to the scene and spoke with the suspect.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Grizzard had not only burglarized the townhome at 5622 Thomas Drive, which also happened to be owned by his father, but the other five townhomes
connected to the first.
All six had been burglarized and he had taken apart the outside air
conditioning unit and stolen the copper out of the units.
Grizzard stated to investigators he had been in Panama City Beach for a week and a half and had also burglarized at least two other townhomes in the area, stealing the copper from the air conditioning units.
Grizzard, of Albany, Georgia, was arrested and charged with Fugitive From Justice.
The investigation continues with five additional charges of Residential Burglary and seven additional charges of felony Criminal Mischief expected.
