The Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Saturday, July 9, 2011, in reference to a home invasion robbery and a shooting.
The victim stated to deputies he had just gone to bed in his home at 420 North Kimbrel Avenue in Callaway when two men wearing bandanas entered his home. The two suspects went to the victim’s bedroom and demanded money. The victim handed over several hundred dollars and one of the suspects hit him on the head before the two left.
Two witnesses driving by the residence saw two men wearing bandanas leave the home. Suspecting the two had been involved in a crime they followed the suspects, who drove away in a gold SUV, possibly a Trailblazer. When the suspects realized they were being followed they opened fire on the witness’ car, striking the car twelve times. BCSO Crime Scene later recovered 32 shell casings in the road. No one was injured in the shooting.
Anyone with information about this home invasion and shooting is asked to contact the BCSO at 747-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 785-TIPS.
