Police are asking for you help to catch a man they suspect of robbing a number of area banks. They believe he tried to rob a Mexico Beach bank Tuesday, and succeeded in robbing a Defuniak Springs bank the next day.
It started Tuesday when a man walked into the Centennial Bank in Mexico Beach with a note demanding money.
He didn't get what he came for, but he did get away.
The next day he successfully pulled the same thing at peoples national bank in Defuniak Springs.
Although police think he's tied to another bank robbery in Alabama, they think he's still here, somewhere between Mexico Beach and Defuniak Springs.
"There was some evidence we found very close to here after the Defuniak robberies so we believe he is still somewhere close," says Mexico Beach Police Officer J.T. Hullman.
Hullman is still collecting evidence, but says tips from the community are often his best leads.
"Every tip that comes in, you may think it's minute. It may seem very small to someone out there but it may be the missing piece to the puzzle."
Mexico Beach is working with a number of agencies, including the FBI to find that missing puzzle piece. Hullman is convinced someone in our area can help catch the suspect.
"Somebody out there knows who he is. They know where he lives, what he drives. If they have any information pertaining to this individual we need them to contact the Mexico Beach police department."
