Arrests in Arson Investigation

The Panama City Police Department continues to investigate the arson of an occupied residence on Timber Run in Panama City that occurred on August 15, 2012, at approximately 3:30 am. Detectives investigating the case have worked closely with investigators with the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal’s, agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and investigators with the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office.

Information learned and evidence collected during this investigation identified three people were involved in the arson. The fire did cause damage to the occupied residence. On November 2, 2012, Daniel Lee Blankenship, 21 years of age, was arrested for principal to arson, Anthony Michael Wait, 23 years of age, was arrested for principal to arson, and Patrick Lance Pippin, 21 years of age, was arrested for arson. Blankenship and Pippin were both located in Gulf County, Florida where they reside. Wait was located at his residence in Bay County, Florida. Blankenship and Pippin were booked into the Gulf County Jail and will be extradited back to Bay County. Wait was booked into the Bay County Jail.
This case still remains under investigation. To preserve the integrity and progress of the investigation, information related to evidence details or information about the motive will not be released at this time.
