On December 7, 2010 at 5:00 AM, an armed robbery and aggravated assault occurred at the Herndon Lane Apartments in Canton. The suspect, Laanthony Dewayne Ward, entered the male victim’s apartment and hit the victim in the head with a pistol. Ward then stole the victim’s wallet which contained the victim’s driver’s license, a debit card and $300 in cash. Ward then left the scene and has not been seen since.

The victim was taken to Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton and received treatment for the injuries he sustained and was later released. The victim received stitches above his eye and had lacerations, bruising and fractured bones near the eye socket.
It is believed that the incident occurred because both the victim and suspect were having a relationship with the same female. That female is Sheree Edwards of Canton and she was also arrested in reference to the incident and was charged with False Statements and Obstruction.

Police are looking for Ward who should be considered armed and dangerous. Ward is believed to be in the Atlanta, Georgia area or is possibly in Alabama. Ward had planned to visit Alabama for a family member’s funeral. Ward is described as a black male, 5’10” in height, 170 lbs, with brown eyes and brown hair that is currently long and in dreads. Ward has valid warrants for burglary, aggravated assault and armed robbery.
