Albany Police Worried About Gang Retaliation

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) -- Police and residents in Albany say they fear gang retaliation following the weekend drive-by shooting deaths of two young men over the weekend.

Investigators were continuing a manhunt for whoever gunned down 20-year-olds William Davis Junior and Desmond Williams on Sunday night.

Authorities tell WALB-TV that the shooting sent bullets flying into nearby homes and cars. Witnesses say about 50 shots were fired from a passing car, killing the two men as they stood in a yard.

Authorities say their investigation is being hampered because many witnesses are reluctant to talk to police.

District Attorney Greg Edwards says the murders are gang-related and people in that neighborhood apparently are not telling Investigators what they need to know to track down the killers.
