Limestone County sheriff's deputies made the find Friday in a drug search with assistance from Madison County police.
Officers initially searched the property using shovels, rakes and hoes.
But they brought in a track hoe and used a ground penetrating radar device after finding the mason jars.
The homeowner was arrested on drug charges and jailed in Limestone County on $46,000 bond.
