4 Arrested for Metal Theft at Construction Site

On 06-23-2012 Officers of the Marianna Police Department responded to the Old County Jail located on Marion St behind the Court House. A call came in to dispatch stating that multiple suspects were on the construction site committing theft of scrap metal. The old jail house is in the process of being demolished by Crowder Construction. Upon arrival officers located four suspects on site loading scrap metal onto privately owned vehicles and a trailer. Those four suspects were as follows:

Virgil Lang Johnson 22 years old
2828 Barnes St. Marianna, Fl. 32448

Arthur J. Foreman 33 years old
4469 Fairfax Rd. Marianna, Fl. 32446

Addis T. Cooper 21 years old
2876 Borden St. Marianna, Fl. 32448

Eric Highsmith 49 years old
5793 Hartsfield Rd. Greenwood, Fl. 32443

The suspects stated that they had been given permission by an employee of the construction company working the site. Officers made contact with the construction site manager who advised that the suspects were never given permission to haul scrape from the site. All four suspects were placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correction Facility to await first appearance. All four suspects are being charged with Theft From A Construction Site ( felony ) and Trespassing (felony).
