A Crestview woman and an acquaintance are arrested on charges of child neglect and abuse.

19-year-old Janielle Marie Destin is charged with child neglect without great harm.

She's accused of leaving an infant in his car seat for extended periods of time, putting him in a back storage room at a local bar for several hours while she played darts. On at least one occasion the baby fell out of his stroller and was found on the floor.

Destin is also accused of failing to take the baby to follow-up doctors' appointments for a respiratory infection.

Destin's acquaintance, 37-year-old David John Parker of Baker has been arrested in Michigan on charges of aggravated child abuse.

Parker told authorities the infant suffered skull fractures from falling while being bathed in the kitchen sink, but medical professionals say the baby's injuries weren't consistent with that explanation.

This girl has already been arrested for abuse of an animal, you can look up her record...she is selfish and immature. Aparently, all she cares about is partying and playing around. Take that baby away from her before he gets killed...

I can see what Barbara is talking about. And I think that is a good idea. Also what Jan is saying is true, but lot of people who are raise indifferently, and if you don't actually know you're being neglectful then you need to be taught different. What others see as neglectful and abusive may be how someone was raised and they'll say 'thats how I was raised, and it didn't hurt me none ". They was raised that way so they don't know any better.

It would be great if caring could be made mandatory, but it can't. All the classes in the world won't make a selfish, self centered person a parent.

Well here's what I think, I think that before you become a parent you should have to go to a class that explains how to take care of a child. How to bathe a child, feed it it's bottle, how to change the baby, burp the baby, how to hold the baby and how to put it's clothes on. Anything that has to do with taking care of a baby, and also a C.P.R. and a medical needs course needs to be included, there needs to be a class you have to attend in order to get your certificate of parenthood. Now I know what a lot of you are saying that this is stupid.Well everybody does not know how to take care of a child. It has to be taught and from the looks of things,No one is teaching that. This could put a end to some of this child neglect. This class should be mandatory.
