A 12-year-old Valdosta boy is recovering after being stabbed.
Just before 9:00 Sunday morning, Valdosta Police responded to Blitch Street.
That's where they say 30-year-old Corey Hancock, a family acquaintance, struck the boy's grandmother Catherine Scott and then stabbed the boy in the chest.
Hancock was later arrested. The victim is in stable condition at South Georgia Medical Center.
"We don't have anything like this happen normal[ly], but a 12-year-old should never be in the middle of a stabbing anyway, even though he was trying to protect someone," said neighbor Rebecca Wind.
Police say they don't know Hancock's motive. He's charged with aggravated assault, battery and cruelty to children. He's being held at the Lowndes County Jail.
