On August 23, 2012 the Dothan Police Department responded to a home invasion robbery in the 1000 block of Dixie Drive just after 3:00 a.m. Upon arrival, police learned from the victims that they leave the residence to exercise each morning at approximately 3:00 a.m. The victims, a male and female, stated that as they exited their residence this morning they were ambushed at the front door by three black males, one of which was armed with a gun. The suspects forced the victims back into the residence where they assaulted both victims. The suspects demanded money which they took along with miscellaneous items. The suspects then demanded car keys to a vehicle at the residence which was used as a getaway vehicle by the suspects. Patrolmen were involved in a short pursuit with the suspects in downtown Dothan during which the stolen car was crashed. The suspects fled from the wreckage and were not apprehended.

The Criminal Investigative Division was called in at approximately 4:00 a.m. to begin an exhaustive effort to move the case forward. Investigators have worked around the clock since then and say investigative efforts have resulted in many leads which are currently being pursued. At this time, investigators have confirmed one suspect has been identified and arrested for participation in this crime. The apprehension of this suspect, Shantez Webster, was conducted very successfully as patrolmen, canine officers and investigators worked together in what led to a foot pursuit of the suspect who attempted to flee. Despite the suspects’ efforts, multiple officers were in place and converged on the area giving the suspect no room for escape.

The Dothan Police Department is asking anyone with information about the case or identity of the two remaining suspects to call the Dothan Police Department or CrimeStoppers 334-793-7000.

Shantez Deonta Webster, white male, 18 years of age, of Chinook Street was arrested and charged with two counts of First Degree Kidnapping, First Degree Robbery and First Degree Theft with bonds totaling $ 370,000.
