Congressman Bright Stands up to President Obama's Proposed Farm Cuts

Posted: 02/05/2010 - In a proposal similar to one from last year, President Obama is trying to scale back the number of farms eligible for federal assistance. Farms with gross incomes of more than $500,000 and nonfarm income of more than $250,000 would no longer receive money to help farmers when commodity prices drop. This is a hot topic here in the wiregrass since 50 percent of the peanuts that are grown in the U.S. are grown within a 50 mile radius of Dothan and some farmers are in need of financial help.
