The gift of sight is something many of us take for granted.
But for patients like Patricia Taylor, it's a gift they'll never forget receiving.
Taylor suffers from cataracts, but doesn't have insurance and is not old enough to qualify for Medicaid.
So Eye Center South in Dothan took her case on and performed part of the surgery today, thanks to a grant called, ‘The Gift of Sight.’
Taylor says she found out she had the disease two years ago and since then her vision has continued to get worse.
But she never dreamed it would get better.
Taylor will go back next Monday for round two of the surgery.
Through May 24th, Dr. Marnix Heersink, Dr. William Bennett and Dr. Sebastian Heersink will be performing cataract surgeries to those who would not get treatment otherwise.
