Over fifty essays were submitted for judging and twenty were selected to present speeches. Speeches were presented recently at Troy University-Dothan and the top five winners received cash awards, certificates and gift bags. Also, their sponsoring teacher received a cash award for classroom supplies. All of the speech participants received a certificate for their winning essays.
1st place winner was Leandra McGriff with the topic, "The Fear of the End'. Leandra is a 12th grade student at Northview High School and Ms. Salem was her sponsoring teacher.
2nd place winner was Isabella Mak with the topic, "Internet Addiction". Isabella is a 11th grade student at Northview High School and Ms. Butler was her sponsoring teacher.
3rd place winner was Jackson Stansell with the topic, "God: The True Matter". Jackson is a 11th grade student at Dothan High School and Dr. Mathews was his sponsoring teacher.
4th place winner was Brandon Ethredge with the topic, "Volunteer, Yes We Can". Brandon is a 10th grade student at Northview High School and Ms. Salem was his sponsoring teacher.
5th place winner was Kylie Russell with the topic, "Not An "LOL" Matter". Kylie is a 11th grade student at Northview High School and Mrs. Harris is her sponsoring teacher.
