Woman in Accident Charged with Obstructing Justice

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile police have charged a woman with obstructing justice after they say she gave a false name to officers investigating a fatal accident.

The Press-Register newspaper reports that 50-year-old Kathy Dubose Gafford was charged Monday.

Officer Christopher Levy says in a statement that 8-year-old Tyler Autry of Semmes died from injuries suffered when he and his 38-year-old mother were hit by a car around 10:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police say Gafford was driving a Toyota Camry that hit the two, who were pedestrians, and also hit two parked cars. Levy says neither alcohol or speed was considered a factor.

Levy says Gafford had outstanding warrants for driving without a license and speeding, which were not related to Saturday's
accident.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to contact Mobile police.
