ORANGE BEACH, Alabama -- A 24-year-old Louisiana woman fell to her death from an eighth-floor balcony early Sunday morning in Orange Beach, Baldwin County Coroner Stan Vinson said.

The cause of the fall remained under investigation Sunday evening, according to Vinson.

The name of the woman was withheld pending notification of relatives in Louisiana. Vinson said that the woman was vacationing with some family members at Seaside Beach & Racquet Club when she fell to her death about 1:40 a.m.

The woman fell from the side of the resort facing the Gulf of Mexico, Vinson said. He added that two persons on the beach saw the woman falling but did not see what caused her to fall.

The Seaside resort is on the gulf side of Perdido Beach Boulevard about a mile west of Orange Beach Boulevard.

They need the rails higher. People lean over the railing and fall.
